Makita has revolutionized the cordless tool market with its 18V LXT® Sub-Compact series. These tools offer the easy handling of 12V models but pack the power of 18V ones, and are compatible with the world's largest 18V cordless tool system.
The XSH04ZB is designed for cutting and ripping. It's a perfect choice for contractors looking for a more compact cutting solution for framing, roofing, formwork, etc.
This Sub-Compact 6.5-inch circular saw is compact and ergonomic, only 10.625 inches long and weighing 6.4 lbs with an 18V LXT® Compact 2.0Ah battery (battery and charger sold separately). Its Makita-built brushless motor can reach up to 5,000 RPM, providing a great power-to-weight ratio. The Automatic Speed Change™ technology adjusts cutting speed and torque under load for the best cutting performance. The efficient brushless motor can run up to 50% longer than non-brushless motors. In tests, the XSH04 can make up to 174 cross-cuts per charge in 2x10 SPF lumber using a 5.0Ah battery (sold separately). You can use high amp-hour 18V LXT® batteries like 2.0Ah, 3.0Ah, 4.0Ah, 5.0Ah, or 6.0Ah for extended run time (all sold separately).
It comes with convenient features such as dual L.E.D. lights, an electric brake, a built-in tether notch (tether sold separately), and Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) for better dust and water resistance on harsh job sites. The rear dust port can be easily connected to a vacuum system for improved dust extraction (dust extraction accessories sold separately).
It's part of Makita's growing 18V LXT® system. Makita 18V LXT® batteries have fast charge times, so they can work more and spend less time on the charger.
Makita's Star Protection Computer Controls™ improves tool performance and extends battery life. It's a communication technology that allows the tool and battery to exchange data in real time, protecting against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. The tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol, indicating Star Protection inside.

Using your Makita 18V LXT® Sub-Compact Brushless Cordless 6.5-Inch Circular Saw is easy. First, make sure you have a fully charged 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion battery. Insert the battery into the saw until it clicks into place.
When you're ready to start cutting, hold the saw firmly with the top handle. Use the dual L.E.D. lights to illuminate your work area. Press the trigger to start the saw, and the Automatic Speed Change™ technology will adjust the speed and torque for the best cutting performance.
For safety, always wear appropriate protective gear like safety glasses and gloves. Don't touch the blade when the saw is running or immediately after use, as it can be very hot. Make sure the work piece is properly secured before cutting.
When it comes to maintenance, keep the saw clean. After each use, wipe it down to remove dust and debris. You can use the rear dust port to connect to a vacuum system for better dust extraction. Check the blade regularly for wear and tear, and replace it when necessary. Use the on-board blade wrench to change the blade, and make sure the flat motor housing design provides stability during the process.
Only use genuine Makita batteries and chargers. The Rapid Optimum Charger has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster charging. The Star Protection Computer Controls™ in the tool and battery will protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. If you're not using the saw for a long time, store it in a dry place.
