Application

Surface Preparation

Make sure the concrete is clean, free of oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants. Abrade the surface to a CSP of 3 as per ICRI 310.2 standards.
For heavy - load areas, saw cut a ¼” recess around the patch for better durability.
The concrete surface should be saturated - surface - dry with no standing water.
Clean rust from exposed steel and apply SpecPrep SB as a protective coating.
Apply SpecPrep SB to the SSD concrete by spray or brush, and apply the repair mortar while it's wet. Or use a scrub coat of the mixed mortar before the bond coat dries.

Mixing and Application

Use 7.0 to 7.5 pints of Duo Patch Admix per 50 - pound bag, adjusting for the right consistency.
Mix with a low - speed drill. Start with the Admix, then add the powder gradually and mix for 2 - 3 minutes until smooth. Don't mix more than you can use within the setting time.
For repairs up to 1” thick, apply directly. Don't use more than 7 pints of Admix for depths over 1/2″.
For larger repairs over 1”, add up to 60% by weight of clean, SSD 3/8″ aggregate and mix for 2 more minutes. Place this mix within 15 - 20 minutes.

Placement Procedure

Apply Duo Patch to the prepared area using a trowel, screed, or pour it, making sure it fully contacts the surface. Screed it to a level finish with the surrounding concrete.

Finishing/Curing

After it starts to set and gets firm, finish it with a hand trowel to match the surrounding texture. Use SpecChem IntraFilm if needed. Usually, it's self - curing, but in extreme conditions, apply an ASTM C309 compliant curing compound.

Packaging

DUO PATCH comes in two options: a 50 lb bag with a 1 - gallon jug of Admix or a 60 lb pail unit with the same contents.

Shelf Life

Unopened bags last 12 months in a dry place. Keep it cool, dry, and away from sunlight, and make sure the Admix doesn't freeze.

Set Time at 70°F (ASTM C266): Initial set is about 40 minutes, final set around 50 minutes.
Compressive Strength (ASTM C109):
- 1 day: 2,500 psi
- 7 days: 4,000 psi
- 28 days: 6,000 psi
Bond Strength (ASTM C882 modified): 1,800 psi after 7 days.
Length Change (ASTM C157):
- Wet Cure at 28 days: +0.04% expansion
- Air Cure at 28 days: - 0.02% contraction
Flexural Strength (ASTM C348):
- 7 days: 650 psi
- 28 days: 1,300 psi
Yield: Each bag gives about 0.42 cubic feet.

Clean tools with water before the DUO PATCH hardens to keep them in good shape.
