Product Overview
The 2000 series is the workhorse of our vertical panel saw line. It uses steel sleeves over plastic rollers to protect them from damage when heavy material sheets are dropped. Our modified Makita 7.25' Hypoid saw has a push - button safety switch. The hypoid saw has replaced the old worm - drive skill saw used in other panel saws. The worm - drive saw uses oil in a gear box for cooling and removing metal fragments. But on a panel saw tilted at 75 degrees, the oil can't properly cool the gears, and few people change the oil. The Hypoid saw offers the power of a worm drive without the need for oil, making it almost maintenance - free.
The 2000 series comes with the same accessory package as the Varsity and 1000 series, including a factory - attached folding stand, frame wheels, a spinning insert, an excellent dust - collection package, rip pointers, and measuring tapes with a stop and strip bar.
The 2000 Series is not only a great - value machine but also unique in the panel saw industry. Its Accu - Square indexing system allows for precise adjustments to within 1/64' of square over the cut length and locks in place. Other saws are adjusted with a dead - blow mallet. Our indexing system is also used for adjusting the material roller fence, while other machines have complex alignment procedures.
Our bearing system uses sealed steel bearings for smooth carriage movement. It's a better choice compared to our competitors' U - bolt and nylon - ring system. The Hypoid Makita is designed for long - hour operation on hard materials, with a lower RPM than the 5007F saw, allowing it to handle tougher jobs like cutting pressure - treated lumber and hard plastics.
You might need the 2000 series if you're cutting hard materials or more than 50 full sheets per week. It comes in three cross - cutting sizes, saving you money if you only need to cut 4' by 8' sheets. The bundled accessory package makes it a better deal than comparable bare - bones worm - drive panel saws. The spring - loaded counterbalance feature makes operating the saw less tiring, especially for multiple cuts per day. And the Hypoid saw avoids the oil - change and angle - related problems of worm - drive saws.

Using the 2000 Series Makita Hypoid Vertical Panel Saw is a breeze. First, make sure the saw is properly set up on its folding stand. Adjust the alignment using the Accu - Square system for precise cuts. Place the material on the steel - sleeved rollers and use the measuring tapes and rip gauges to position it accurately. When you're ready to cut, turn on the saw using the push - button safety switch. The spring - loaded counterbalance will help you lift the saw with ease. For safety, always wear appropriate protective gear like goggles and gloves. When not in use, store the saw in a dry place. Keep the dust - collection system clean to ensure good performance. Since the Hypoid saw doesn't need gear - box oil changes, you don't have to worry about that maintenance task. But do check the blade regularly for wear and tear, and replace it when needed. Also, make sure the bearings on the carriage are in good condition for smooth movement.
