Using this drill is easy. First, make sure you have a fully charged Makita 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion battery with a Star symbol. Insert the battery into the drill. Then, select the appropriate speed using the 2-speed transmission based on your drilling or fastening task. For smaller holes or lighter materials, you can use the lower speed (0 - 550 RPM). For larger holes or tougher materials, switch to the higher speed (0 - 2,100 RPM). When inserting a bit, use the all-metal ½” self-ratcheting chuck to secure it firmly. To turn on the drill, press the trigger. The L.E.D. light will automatically come on to help you see your work area. As for maintenance, keep the drill clean and dry. After each use, wipe it down with a clean cloth. If it gets dirty, you can use a mild detergent and water, but make sure to dry it thoroughly. Avoid using the drill in extremely dusty or wet conditions as much as possible, but if you do, the Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) will help protect it.
