Description

Our Granite Honing Powder is crafted from black silicon carbide. It's ideal for achieving a smooth, uniform flat finish on medium to dark honed granite surfaces. This powder is easy to work with and cleans up effortlessly. Available in coarse (70 Grit), medium (100 Grit), and fine (180 Grit) options, all packed by weight. For proper use, first clean the surface of debris, sand, and dirt. Protect nearby surfaces from splatters. Remove any topical coatings or crystallizers. For countertops, target a 2 - 3 sq ft area and use ½ teaspoon of powder. Make a heavy cream - like paste with water, place a hog’s hair pad on it, and use a right - angle grinder/polisher at a speed of no more than 900 RPM (600 RPM is best). For floors, target a 10 - 12 sq ft area and use 2 ozs of powder. Use a floor machine weighing between 130 and 160 lbs and spinning at no more than 175 RPM. Keep the slurry wet and add powder as needed. Once the desired result is achieved, rinse well and use a wet/dry vacuum to pick up the water.

Using this granite honing powder is easy. First, make sure the surface you want to hone is clean. Get rid of any dirt, sand, or debris. Also, protect any nearby surfaces that could get damaged by splashes. If there's any coating or crystallizer on the surface, take it off. For countertops, work on a small area (2 - 3 square feet) at a time. Use half a teaspoon of powder and mix it with water to make a thick paste. Put a hog’s hair pad on it and use a grinder or polisher. Keep the speed low, around 600 RPM if possible. For floors, work on a larger area (10 - 12 square feet) and use 2 ounces of powder. Use a proper floor machine that weighs between 130 and 160 pounds and spins slowly. Keep adding water to keep the slurry wet and add more powder when needed. Work the slurry until you get the finish you like. After that, rinse the surface well and use a wet/dry vacuum to clean up the water. Remember, always follow a set pattern while working to get an even finish.
