Using the Bartell BCF 1080 Plate Compactor is easy. First, make sure the engine is properly fueled and the controls are in the right position. Start the engine following the Honda GX160 engine's startup instructions. Use the throttle controls to adjust the speed and operation of the compactor. When moving the compactor to the job site, you can use the retractable wheel kits by flipping them down. If the site is hard to reach by wheel, use the lifting bales. For edge compaction, take advantage of the straight - edge plate design. If you're using the BCF1570 or BCF2150 models, fill the water tank to prevent asphalt from sticking. Remember to keep the sealed belt guards clean to avoid any belt - related issues. Regularly check the engine oil, air filter, and spark plug as part of maintenance. Also, make sure to store the compactor in a dry place when not in use.
