Lasers play a crucial role in the early construction phases, and measurement needs vary according to different applications. The Makita 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion Self-Leveling Cross-Line Red Beam Laser (SK105DZ) offers a cordless solution for leveling, alignment, and plumbing tasks. Depending on the ambient light, it has a line visibility range of up to 82 feet and can be detected up to 262 feet with a Makita Laser Detector (sold separately). This laser features a bright 635 nm class II red laser with an accuracy of +/-1/8” at 33 feet, ensuring best-in-class precision. Its laser line fan extends beyond the 90-degree position, providing 180-degree horizontal and 160-degree vertical lines for comprehensive reference line coverage. It achieves self-leveling line stability in just 3 seconds, boosting productivity. For longer run time, all 12V max CXT® cordless tools are compatible with the 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion 4.0Ah battery (BL1041B, sold separately). The 12V max CXT® lithium-Ion batteries come with a Battery Protection Circuit that guards against overloading, over-discharging, and over-heating. It's part of the expanding 12V max CXT® series, combining high performance with excellent ergonomics in a compact size. Users in the 18V LXT® battery platform can use an 18V LXT® battery with the Power Source Adapter (ADP05) and Adapter Cord (sold separately). Key features include selectable cross reference lines, up to 40 hours of continuous run time with a 4.0Ah battery, IP 54 dust and water resistance, and a simplified one-button interface. It also comes with a 3-year limited warranty and requires the use of genuine Makita batteries and chargers.

Using the Makita 12V max CXT® Lithium-Ion Self-Leveling Cross-Line Red Beam Laser is easy. First, make sure you have the right battery. You can use the 2.0Ah battery or, for longer run time, the 12V max CXT® 4.0Ah battery (sold separately). If you're in the 18V LXT® battery platform, you can use an 18V battery with the Power Source Adapter (ADP05) and Adapter Cord (sold separately). Once you have the power source, turn on the laser using the one-button interface. The laser will self-level in about 3 seconds. You can select the horizontal or vertical cross reference lines according to your application. The line is visible up to 82 feet depending on the light, and you can detect it up to 262 feet with a Makita Laser Detector (sold separately). When using it, keep in mind that the self-leveling works up to a 4° slope, so it can operate on slightly uneven surfaces. Also, the pendulum lock is great for slope incline applications and protects the laser diode during transport and storage. For maintenance, since it has an IP 54 rating, it's dust and water resistant, but still try to keep it clean and dry. The rubberized housing over-mold and recessed laser windows add extra protection. Always use genuine Makita batteries and chargers to ensure the best performance and to keep the 3-year limited warranty valid. And remember, this laser isn't compatible with 12V max pod-style tools, batteries, and chargers.
